About Orbit

Orbit is a marketplace and services database for the circular construction sector. Our goal is to increase the demand for salvaged, refurbished and surplus construction materials by making the buying and selling process easier and faster, and facilitating connections to specialized service providers. As a result, we aim to reduce construction and demolition waste and the associated carbon emissions, facilitate material reuse on construction projects, and support the growth of the green economy.

FAQs

How Can Users Gain Value from Reclaimed & Surplus Construction Materials?

Instead of throwing usable construction materials away, you can turn them into cash, cost savings, or potential tax benefits through Orbit.

  • Sell Materials for Cash
Register for a free account and list materials on Orbit for no charge. Buyers can contact you directly through the platform, and you can coordinate payment, pickup, and/or delivery directly with the buyer.

  • Give Materials Away & Save on Hauling and Disposal Costs
Not interested in selling? List your materials for free and connect with someone who can reuse them. Giving materials away can help you clear space quickly while potentially saving money on hauling, disposal, and dumping fees.

  • Donate Materials & Receive a Tax Deduction
Donating usable materials to a qualified nonprofit may provide a tax benefit while keeping materials out of the waste stream. Orbit works with a network of nonprofit partners that accept construction material donations and can provide documentation for qualifying donations.

How Does Orbit's Services Database Work?

If you're a business in the circular construction sector, you can create a free listing in Orbit's services database. Here, users can search for partners, contractors or service providers knowledgeable in construction, deconstruction, repair and reuse.

Where is Orbit Active?

You can buy, sell, and donate construction material anywhere in the US or Canada. Since our launch in 2025, we've been focused on developing the circular construction sector in New York City. We plan to expand from there.

How Does Orbit Make Money?

We are currently working with a variety of users to identify the most efficient processes to sell, giveaway or donate construction materials. In the future, we will be adding fees to our platform. We are committed to being an affordable solution for our users.

What is Orbit's Pilot Program?

Orbit has a free pilot program, where we work with select non-profit organizations to help source free and affordable materials for their construction and renovation projects. Reach out to discuss how Orbit can support your work: contact@orbitexchange.co
